Konstantinos Mavropaos believes his West Ham teammates need to work harder and concentrate more to turn their form around.

The Hammers have had a lot of problems this season; awful defending, lack of chance creation and just all-round poor play. But the biggest issue has been defending set-pieces, we conceded from yet another corner on Saturday as Mateta headed to put Crystal Palace 1-0 up.

Speaking after the Palace defeat, Mavropanos was hurt and focused on improving ahead of our first-ever clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium vs Everton on Monday evening.

“We are really disappointed,” he confirmed. “We wanted to give something to our side and to the fans, but unfortunately we didn’t.

“We conceded one more goal from a corner, which makes us really, really disappointed again. I think we worked harder in the second half, we scored the goal, we saw that we can give more to the attack, but unfortunately we conceded one more.

“I don’t have much to say because really I think the energy we put in is good. I really try to understand what’s going on, but I think we just have to work harder and concentrate more when we defend corners because nowadays you can see that all the teams give a lot of attention to this, as we do.

“So yeah, I think we have to focus more on that and be ready for every action.”

Mavropanos is one of the only players at the club that has improved since the arrival of Graham Potter, a huge chunk of the fan base believe he is the best central defender at the club, but at the moment its just the best of a bad bunch because of our form.
