New West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo is filling West Ham fans with excitement after his first interview with the official West Ham channels

The former Forest manager has vowed to make West Ham a team that’s difficult to play against and full or strong bonds as we look to get out of the mess Graham Potter left us in.

Nuno has said he wants to immerse himself into the club, football I this life, which means West Ham United is now his life and he wants to do everything he can to make us a better side.

In an interview full of positivity the standout quote was this. “Yes, of course. I want to integrate myself, first of all, in the Club, with you (the staff), with all the people here, because we have to become as a family. We have to realise that we are the ones that represent the community. The community sees us as a mirror, as an image that they want to [be], so that’s why we have to make strong values. We have to be respectful to each other.”

Obviously Nuno wants to improve performances on the pitch, and they inevitably will, but what he needs to do first is change the culture around the club. It’s not been the same since David Moyes, and Nuno who has a more similar character to the Scotsman should be able to bring the back.

The former Wolves and Nottingham Forest has also spoke about the importance of the fans, but he knows he has to give the fans something to cheer about. “The supporters are very important, very important” he said.

“That’s why I truly believe what we want to achieve is a platform to be able [to build from]. Now is not the moment to ask the fans. Now is the moment to deliver to the fans. I think we have to give them, so then they can give us back.

“When we have this bond, when other teams come to play against us, it’s going to be hell. But we have to achieve this bond first. We have protect each other, all of us inside of the building, the fans, everybody. Everybody that really cares about West Ham has to protect each other.”

Nuno was most fans’ top choice of all the names we were linked with, he maybe wasn’t the ideal hire, but his record speaks for himself. Getting Wolves and Nottingham Forest into Europe was nothing short of fantastic, and with better resources around him at West Ham, he has the potential to achieve that once again.
