Freddie Potts has expressed his delight in getting back amongst the action following the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo.
The new Hammers boss, who took over from Graham Potter at the weekend, oversaw a positive performance in the draw at Everton, with Freddie Potts reintroduced to the 1st team and performing well.
Potts, who came on for Magassa in the 59th minute, will be hoping to once again see more time on the pitch when we take on Arsenal at the weekend, with fans able to take a punt on various aspects of the game whilst exploring Premier League betting odds.
Speaking after the draw to David Moyes’ Everton, Potts expressed his delight in the impact Nuno has already made in his short time so far in east London.
“The new manager’s come in and didn’t have a lot of time to set out his tactics, only having two days to do so,” Potts told the clubs Official Website.
“I just felt I wanted to come on and play my game and do my best for the team, because we were 1-0 down. I had to try and help the team in any way I could to turn the result around.
“Thankfully we did that and that was the main thing at the end of the day. It wasn’t my performance, it was the fact that we’d come away with a point, and I feel like we could have got more.”
The midfielder says there is a healthy competition amongst the players as they try to impress Nuno and become a regular player for his new system at West Ham.
“Everyone wants to play and everyone is helping each other out, especially in training,” said the Academy graduate. “You see it as healthy competition, everyone’s pushing each other on to fight to start or to come on.
“I think that’s good to have, because obviously that keeps performances high, everyone’s got to be on their game. Today I just wanted to show what I could do to the new manager and help the team in any way that I could. So I’m happy.
“Hearing the fans chanting my name is something I’ve dreamt of since I first joined when I was five. I’m very happy and I’m hoping to hear that quite a few more times.”
Potts also paid a special mention to his Dad and club legend Steve Potts, who was alongside Mark Robson in the dugout to assist Nuno in his first game in charge.
“They’ve really helped me and really helped a lot of the players coming through the Academy,” added Potter. “I can only say thank you to them for what they do for us every day.”
