West Ham are unlikely to be recalling Edson Alvarez early from his loan at Fenerbahce, its been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The Mexico international departed east London on a season-long loan to the Turkish side, when he was allowed to depart under former boss Graham Potter, however the appointment of Nuno has raised the question as to whether the new Hammers manager would want to bring the player back into the fold.

Although its noted he is injured at present, its been reported by our insider that at this stage its unlikely the club will be looking to bring the defensive midfielder back to the club this January.

“Gold Cup winner Edson Alvarez is currently on loan at Fenerbahce in Turkey,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “It was Graham Potter who had allowed him to leave on loan and Jose Mourinho who signed him in Turkey and now both managers have changed clubs.

“Mourinho now manages Benfica in his home land and as we know Potter is out of work following his sacking at West Ham last weekend. I have been trying to find out whether we have a recall option on him should the new manager wish to bring him back in January.

“Whilst this isn’t my usual source on things I am told that there is no option which is quite typical with season long loans. It could be possible that the two clubs could negotiate to terminate the season long loan short if there is a mutual agreement.

“This would be the same thing that we did with James Ward-Prowse and Nottingham Forest ironically when new West Ham boss Nuno agreed for his early departure. Such an agreement could only be done in January and looks unlikely at this stage.”
