Nuno Espirito Santo will want to bring some of his own players to West Ham in January, according to a West Ham Zone article.

The Portuguese manager has had a promising start to life in East London, despite not yet getting a win. And now with his staff in place and a good run of fixtures coming up Nuno is ready to go.

However, because Nuno didn’t join in the summer, he is still working with players that aren’t his, this is where the January window is key.

Come January, we might be in the situation where we need to sign players to help us stay in the league, of if you’re more positive, maybe Nuno might want to improve his team to help us push towards the European places.

But whatever happens, we need to sign at least couple of players that Nuno wants because there will be something to play for. Looking at how the team has performed under Nuno in the two matches so far, the priority signings should be striker and centre-back.

The 51-year-old clearly doesn’t fancy Callum Wilson, Niclas Fullkrug has been poor and it remains to be seen if Callum Marshall is ready for the Premier League stage. With Wilson on.a small contract and Marshall still a youngster, there is definitely space in the squad for another striker that would fit Nuno’s style.

As for defence, Kilman and and Mavropanos have been pretty goo under Nuno so far, they can both be improved on, but the main problem is the depth behind that. For whatever reason Nuno doesn’t want to use Todibo and Igor isn’t starting quality.

However, the Hammers had limited amounts to spend this summer because of previous spending, will it be the case again for Nuno in January?

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, finance Expert Dan Plumley said: “There were tempered expectations with West Ham in the summer, and I still subscribe to that view.

“They’re ok financially against PSR, but they aren’t expected to go out and spend millions, and they didn’t.

“A new manager coming in does potentially change that.

“That’s not to say that they’ll go completely to the opposite end of the scale and spend hundreds of millions, but Nuno is going to want some additions at some point.

“He’s got a couple of months to bed in before that window opens, as always, part of what they spend in January will be dictated by the table at Christmas.

“If they’re in and around the bottom three, the need to spend will be higher. That’s always a pivotal time in the season where games come thick and fast.“
