Czech Republic midfielder and captain Tomas Soucek could be a difference maker for Nuno at West Ham.

The 30-year-old will make his return to the West Ham squad as West Ham host Brentford at the London Stadium under the lights on Monday night.

Soucek saw red in the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last month for a dangerous studs up lunging tackle on Bayern Munich loanee Joao Palhinha.

Nuno’s style is known for being defensive, and if his team doesn’t score first it’s highly unlikely they come back to win, or even draw.

Obviously we can back from behind to draw in Nuno’s first match away at Everton, but that match was really there for the taking for us, but we just didn’t have the quality on the bench to make a game-changing substitution.

However, the return of Soucek could be that. It’s very unlikely he’s going to be a starter with Fernandes and Paqueta competing with him for the two eight roles, so he could make a huge impact off the bench.

This is what a lot of Hammers fans have wanted from Soucek for a long time, but he’s normally been our only other goal threat apart from Jarrod Bowen. But if he can get players like Summerville, Paqueta,Fullkrug and Fernandes creating and scoring, Soucek can be the man to come on when we need another option.
