Aaron Wan-Bissaka had a blinder of a performance against Manchester United where on numerous occasions he kept West Ham in the game.
A performance which earned him a comparison to legendary Brazilian player Cafu, the name ‘Aaron Wan-Bissakafu’ was born and well deserved through his last ditch challenges, clearances off the line and keeping the Hammers going whilst they struggled to push onwards.
His duties became more difficult from the 37th minute onwards seeing as Malick Diouf accumulated a yellow card, meaning no reckless chances could be taken, subsequently leading to the Congolese International having to do all the dirty work and in the 78th minute he accumulated his own yellow, but at that point, he’d worked his socks!
Wan-Bissaka’s performance last night was one of those where it stuns you how did we sign him for just £15 million, his defending was immense and his last gasp clearances practically allowed us to rescue a vital point.
A few moments before Magassa scored the winner, Wan-Bissaka would clear Manchester United’s effort off the line after Areola was left beaten, a chance which didn’t only just keep us in the game, but also roared the fans into action once again, reinstating hope in all.
He was very tired come the end of the game and you could evidently see it, the running had to be all done by him seeing as Potts had been limping for a few minutes on his midfield side, as well as Jarrod Bowen who had taken a beating from the United defenders throughout so he was the only truly fit, functioning player on the right.
There’s only so much running you can do across a game so no-one can fault him in the slightest for not going forward at the end, a superb performance and likely one of his best in a West Ham shirt, it just was written to be against Manchester United, wasn’t it?
