The Hammers have sought out Taty Castellanos, seeing as the forward “is desperate” to make a move.
The 27 year old forward moved to Lazio two seasons ago, but after his falling out with manager Maurizio Sarri over playing style, the Argentine forward is dire to seek a move ‘straight away’ and would accept an offer instantaneously from West Ham if one were to be on the table.
His time in Serie A is ultimately classed as underwhelming. Across 72 matches in the Italian league, the forward has achieved a mere 16 goals, therefore averaging just a 0.2 expected goals… certainly not something that you would admire and desire to drag you out of a relegation fight.
It is thought that Lazio would accept a fee in the region of €25-30 million for the Argentine and despite the interest that the forward is getting, many clubs believe that he isn’t worthy the number they’re after and the asking price would have to be reduced to see a transfer happen, which is likely, given Castellanos’ immense desire to move.
He’s 27 years of age, so therefore has already passed the peak of development; that’s certainly not to say that he couldn’t be a talented forward, but would you risk spending that much money on a forward with a track record as such? It certainly would seem smarter to spend the same amount on a younger player who could adapt and be hungry for change!
Unfortunately for Castellanos, it’s difficult to see how he could be a game-changer for the Hammers, considering he’s struggling in a League that is so often deemed ‘easier’ and his track record is nothing but hindering towards his overall image, they say that sometimes Football isn’t played on paper, but in this instance, we might have to read & analyise to ensure we aren’t making yet another costly error.
