West Ham’s best player this season is the key reason they could stay up, and it’s not Jarrod Bowen.

It’s been a rough ride for West Ham this season. An awful start to the campaign saw Graham Potter sacked, and Nuno’s improved form has unfortunately been met with relegation rivals performing well.

However, plenty of players have picked up as the season’s progressed, with Todibo, Potts and Magassa all playing a starring role lately, but there’s one player who’s done a lot of heavy lifting throughout the campaign.

Matty Fernandes for £40 million is beginning to look like a real bargain. His ability to not only create but defend as well has been unbelievable. He’s been that ball carrier that the club so desperately needed. In a way, he’s exactly what we thought Lucas Paqueta was.

He’s easily been the Hammer’s best player when it comes to creating chances, and it’s worrying to think just how bad of a position they’d be in if they hadn’t secured his signature at the end of the transfer window.
