West Ham United lost yet again this weekend as Pep Guardiola’s Man City were 3-0 victors over the Hammers.
Nuno Espirito Santo has had a tricky time since he arrived at West Ham, and results haven’t been in his favour, but there are numerous reasons as to why we shouldn’t lose hope in the Portuguese Manager.
Since his arrival, it would be unanimously agreed amongst most that West Ham have looked a better side under Nuno than we had under Graham Potter for numerous reasons, one of which being that he’s managed to get more out of the players than most initially thought he could and has managed to glue a side together which many thought couldn’t even be stuck!
However, it is also equally fair to see the dimer side of Nuno given the results, another disappointing result against Manchester City leaves us in the drop of doom heading into Christmas, which tends to often be where if you’re in the bottom three, you are likely ‘gone’… yet, there’s still that underlying element of belief that we can actually stay up, but that will ultimately be decided from now onwards where we have a crucial transfer window ahead, as well as a handful of ‘winnable’ fixtures given our circumstances.
Games against Fulham (H), Brighton (H), Wolves (A) and Nottingham Forest (H) are all winnable fixtures and need ti be taken advantage off if we are to stay up, there’s a serious hall of points available for the taking and if we are to perform how we have done at some times under Nuno, such as Brighton away, Newcastle at home etc, we could potentially drag ourselves out of the relegation zone and begin to catch up with the rest of the field…
It is a statement that is full of the ‘ifs, buts and maybes’, but with decent investment in January into the player that Nuno himself specifically wants, as well as with some hidden fortune on our side, we might be able to reignite the flame that is dying quicker and quicker each week.
These are dire times, but you have to be hopeful and under Nuno, there’s quite a high chance that our ambitions could be achieved.
