West Ham United are open to selling Lucas Paquetá next month if a suitable offer arrives, according to Football Insider.
Despite being very keen on working with the Brazilian when he arrived. Nuno Espírito Santo has reportedly been frustrated with Paquetá’s recent performances and feels the midfielder hasn’t stepped up during a difficult period for the club.
If we’re being completely honest, Paquetá has never really stepped up in a West Ham shirt. He’s had excellent moments like the screamer against Chelsea earlier in the season and the assist for Bowen in the Conference League final.
However, as a whole he’s never lived up to his true potential. He has so much skill and ability, but for whatever reason he just can’t show it. It’s not even that he can’t show it consistently, he doesn’t show it ever pretty much.
In the predicament we are in, a lot of people would think selling him isn’t worth the risk and I get that if there was a risk of losing him, But what risk is that?
He isn’t good, he hasn’t been good for more than two years. He hasn’t got a Premier League assist in over two years. His last assists came when he got three in one match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 17th 2023.
For a creative midfielder, the one that’s meant to be the creative hub of the football team, it’s not good enough and I think if we can get a decent fee of around £25m next month we should definitely take it.
It’s not a lot of money, in face it’s a £26m loss from the £51m we paid for him but at this point I think it’s a good deal. It would allow us to use Mateus Fernandes and the creative hub of the side and improve the squad elsewhere
