West Ham appear to be close to mutually terminating Callum Wilson’s contract, it’s been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
The former Newcastle striker, who had joined the club only in the summer, appears to be out of favour and is now likely to end his stay in east London.
“Relations between the manager and the player have become very strained, with Nuno clearly not rating the former England international and the player becoming frustrated at his lack of consistent game time and the coaches methods,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.
“Wilson’s contract is very incentivised and without having the opportunity to play and score regularly this is obviously affected.
“West Ham have signed two forwards in Taty Castellanos and Pablo which has put Wilson further down the pecking order.
“It was thought that Callum Wilson was due to be in the squad tonight but events today could mean he is missing.
“This will be an interesting indication when the teams are announced.
“The club have denied that the termination has happened yet but the use of words are telling and suggest that it could be very much on the cards
When asked whether reports that Wilson has had his contracted terminated, a top sources replied “It has not at this time”
“Whilst the comment isn’t overly specific it suggests he remains on the payroll for now but could be terminated soon. Yesterday the same source told us that Wilson will not be able to leave yet but possibly at the end of the window if the new players settle. Of course this probably wouldn’t go down too well with Wilson who is thought to have a few interested clubs prepared to offer him a better deal than West Ham currently have him on.
“There are some concerns that Pablo may have not fully recovered from a niggling hamstring strain that he had on arrival and so the club could be wanting to delay the Wilson decision to monitor him, even though he is expected in the squad today, whilst the player probably wants to take matters into his own hands and leave this window.”
