As West Ham return from their brutal defeat to Wolves, a return to the London Stadium could give the Hammers a competitive edge, but only if fans make it that way.
The London Stadium is far from ideal, and whilst there’s no benefit to glorifying what has been nicknamed ‘The Bowl’, tonight we will have to make the most out of our bad living accommodation and attempt to make it a nightmare for our opponents tonight.
Nuno had a very fiery press conference yesterday and appeared to be confident in the team’s ability and also complimented fans, claiming that “they know the problems” and it was up to him and the club to solve them, but as Nuno himself has mentioned before, it’s not about words, it’s about actions.
Tonight is one of the biggest games the Hammers have played in over the past couple of years. It’s our first home game of the year and couple be the most important one; fans simply have to give their all tonight. Nottingham Forest are a good side, they’re a team that fluctuates in form and if there were to be any night to have a 12th man, the lads on the pitch could do with it tonight, from chants to getting behind the team, all the noise needs to be made.
However, as Nuno has said, there’s no point in words; we need action. There’s only been a handful of occasions where the London Stadium often had a good atmosphere, sometimes against our rivals, and the others were against a select few. Essentially, it’s not common to see the London Stadium rocking, but when it is, it certainly has given us an edge to some regard, which could prove to be pivotal tonight.
It may be seen as unrealistic to some to hope for a good atmosphere in the London Stadium, given how we are doing in the league, where we are in the table, as well as 1,000 other things, but for the sake of our club, we have to go against the norm.
A win places us just a sole point away from Nottingham Forest, and a loss puts us 7 points from safety and a week closer to the division below.
The team and Nuno have to hold up their ends of the bargain… if they do, we will follow.
