There have been a lot of contradicting reports regarding Nuno Espirito Santo’s future if West Ham lose tonight, but what is the reality?

To put it simply, we don’t really know. We don’t know what David Sullivan and co are thinking right now, this is the most danger we’ve been in, in over a decade. There is a massive threat of relegation already, and if we lose today it gets 10x worse, it becomes almost a certainty.

There has been a lot of talk on social media that a loss today will mean Nuno loses his job, however, a lot of sources closer to West Ham have rebuffed that saying, even if we lose the board will keep faith in the Portuguese manager.

That’s what I kind of agree with, but not fully. I agree the board are behind Nuno, but not fully. They have splashed around £50m on two new strikers, both of whom were Nuno choices. So, they are backing him financially with who he wants which would suggest they are optimistic he can turn it around.

However, they can only be so optimistic, another battering like the Wolves game, where we don’t even lay a glove on yet another relegation rival mean the end of Nuno as soon as this evening.

While I wouldn’t put that past us, I can’t see us capitulating that much, i’m expecting a cagey draw or narrow defeat this evening. If that’s the case I can see the board giving him the next three matches to turn it around. QPR at home in the cup, Tottenham away and Sunderland at home, if we don’t win either of the league games I think that’s what will get him the boot.

As for tonight, I think it would take a serious hiding for Nuno to lose his job, but I wouldn’t put that past us.
