West Ham lose 2-1 to Nottingham Forest thanks to a late penalty from Morgan Gibba-White, is that the end of Nuno at West Ham?

It would be quite funny if Nuno’s last game as Nottingham Forest manager was a defeat to West Ham. Then just months later, his last game as West Ham manager could be a defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Another absolutely spineless performance from West Ham United has left them seven points behind Nottingham Forest, and therefore seven points from Premier League safety.

Before the game there was a lot of talk around the future of Nuno Espírito Santo. Would he get sacked if we lost this huge game?

Now we’ve lost said huge game, a lot of fans want him out. Coming out of the stadium all you could hear was shouts of ‘he’s got to go’, ‘he’s not good enough’ etc.

But to their dismay, I don’t think Nuno will be losing his job at West Ham United just yet.

After the board just spent £50m on two strikers, who were both chosen by Nuno personally. The board quite simply aren’t going to pull the trigger on him just yet.

On top of their price, both Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe looked positive today. They obviously didn’t make the instant impact we all dreamed of, but they did look pretty good.

Not only that, the alternatives to Nuno aren’t great. Well, the ones we’ve been linked to aren’t anyway. If we could get Enzo Maresca I’d say sack him now, but that’s just not realistic with the position we’re in.

I believe the Hammers board will be starting their usual process of looking around and even entering talks for their next manager after today’s game. However, they aren’t going to act and sack Nuno yet.

I think the board will give him the next three games to save his job. The QPR game win or lose doesn’t really matter, there’s only one thing we need to focus on for the rest of the season and that’s Premier League safety.

So the two after that are make or break for the manager. Tottenham Hotspur away is massive, an effort-lacking or spineless performance and/or heavy defeat against them would be absolutely disgraceful. And then following that up with a loss at home to Sunderland in the early kick off would surely be the end of Nuno at the club.

If we’re not already, then would be the perfect time to start preparing for life in the Championship. I’m almost expecting us to lose our upcoming matches, even against QPR.
