West Ham’s €50 million signings in Pablo and Taty both made their debut last night, with Taty’s work ethic impressive, but Pablo’s brief appearances raising questions.
Taty Castellanos started his first game in Claret & Blue yesterday and had a rather good performances, it’s been an age since we’ve seen a forward have a work ethic as the Argentinian and in all honesty, it would’ve been amazing if everyone on the pitch had the same amount of energy as him, we’d thrash sides!
His running wasn’t the only good thing about him, he utilised his pace to make sleek passes, which helped create a few chances. Unfortunately, they’d all come up short. We thought that he had also managed to be involved in a goal for his debut, but he was unfortunately offside according to VAR in very controversial fashion.
Pablo also made his Hammers debut, where he supposedly has been suffering from a small injury too, which would explain his limited movement in his appearance.
The Brazilian forward, who you wouldn’t have thought was a striker if you’d watched the game, often found himself in the midfield positions out wide, on managing once to drift in and get a shot off, it was certainly disappointing but that shouldn’t determine our minds all in all, especially given that he’s not fully fit and it’s his debut.
He has already spoken out claiming that he’s works best alongside someone else and Taty has said the same, so naturally, you’d expect in the coming weeks for the pair to start upfront and that might prove to be more effective. I could certainly see the pair working well together.
Unfortunately, no dream debuts for the pair, but it’s certainly not all doom and gloom in terms of the signings made so far.
