West Ham face Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup on Sunday. In my opinion, Nuno has to take it seriously and do all he can to win the match.

In order to do that, he can’t make many changes, he has to field a strong team or we could be in for yet another defeat under the Portuguese coach.

With it being a cup game, some players have played a lot of minutes and some need to be dropped. So, Nuno doesn’t exactly have to field his on paper ‘strongest team’, but he can’t afford to start a very poor team and throw this game.

My team to face QPR on Sunday:

Fabianski; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Igor, Scarles; Summerville, Potts, Magassa, Paquetá; Pablo, Castellanos.

Ideally, I would play this starting eleven in a 4-4-1-1.

Obviously the back four is self explanatory in terms of positioning. I’d keep Mavropanos in the team because he seems to improve the more he plays, also Todibo clearly could do with a rest. So, I’d bring in Igor. However, I wouldn’t me mad to see either Mayers or Golambeckis play from the start.

It was a toss up between the two double barrelled full backs Wan-Bissaka and Walker-Peters. However, I considered that he has only had one training session which was today, and to be honest I’d rather save him for Spurs, so he can start alongside KWP, pushing the former Spurs man to left-back.

I’ve gone for Fabianski in between the sticks, it’s unlikely he will start. But I believe we need a calm presence in between the sticks, Areola has been okay but he’s to erratic. Also, we could really do with Fab’s leadership, and who knows, if he plays well he could be our number one for the rest of the season.

Many people would say ‘what about Hermansen?’ If we weren’t in this absolute state I wouldn’t blame put him back in, but we simply cannot trust him after his performances at the start of the season. Also, Nuno suggested he may need to find a new club this month in his press conference today.

As for the midfield, I would play a flat four. Potts and Magassa holding, with Summerville switching to the right and Paquetá on the left. But they would be free to interchange a lot.

Then I would have a strike force of the two new boys, Pablo Felipe should lead the line with Taty Castellanos playing just off of him. With Paquetá coming in from the left and Summerville doing the same coming onto his strong foot, I believe this is the change in attack we need.

Obviously not starting Jarrod Bowen is a shock, but the guy looks mentally drained, he needs a rest and reset. I’d obviously have him on the bench as he can come on and make an impact if needed. Or, if we’re leading, as we should be against the Hoops, maybe he can come on and get a confidence boosting goal.

We’d also have Tomas Soucek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jean-Clair Todibo and Mateus Fernandes on the bench to come on and make a difference.

If Nuno opts to go full strength, I wouldn’t blame him and I would be happy. We have to win this game, we need a boost of confidence and there’s no better way to do that than with a win.
