Was there an overreaction to Nuno’s post -Forest behaviour?
West Ham fans were livid with everything about the Nottingham Forest game. The Hammers simply had to walk away with all three points, yet they couldn’t even earn a draw. The fight isn’t in these players, and that’s been seen under three different managers now.
While I don’t blame Nuno for our situation, I do think he has a lot of issues as a manager. His in-game management is absolutely horrific. It seems like every single match he makes the wrong substitutions at the wrong time. Even then, you could argue the abysmal squad depth is the reason for this.
However, his antics with the Nottingham Forest players has been the final straw for a lot of fans. He was seen hugging and laughing with them after a defeat which all but confirmed his side’s relegation.
Realistically, I don’t think it’s as big a deal as people are making out. He had a great bond with their players, they’re people he certainly has a lot of time for.
In football we often expect people to almost be robots, they’re humans and they’re allowed to have connections with people. You can see how genuinely stressed and angry Nuno is in his interviews, but you can’t expect him to lose all emotions.
Could it have been saved for the tunnel? Probably, but does it make a difference? Not at all. It won’t have had an effect on the players, so it ultimately is not an issue.
