West Ham’s FA Cup win against QPR could be bigger than it seems.
At this moment, there’s not a team in the Premier League lower on confidence than West Ham. Every single time they step on the pitch it’s clear to see there is no belief amongst the players that they can get out of this horrific situation they find themselves in.
Fans had hoped that the Wolves game would have been their opportunity to get some points on the board and build some momentum. Unfortunately, the 3-0 defeat did the exact opposite and put an already broken team as low as they can possibly go.
Heading into the FA Cup match against QPR, it seemed like everyone expected defeat. While it was anything but convincing, the Hammers managed to prove the doubters wrong in a third round which was full of upsets.
While beating a Championship side isn’t exactly impressive on paper, doing so when you’re in the form of West Ham is certainly important.
It’s a reminder to the players that they are in fact capable of winning games, and it can act as the foundations for them to build upon ahead of the Tottenham match.
If, somehow, we can walk away with all three points on Saturday then winning two in a row could be the start of the something miraculous that West Ham so desperately need.
