Lucas Paqueta is understood to be keen on a move back to Brazil, it has been exclusively reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The Brazilian international, who was unavailable for selection in yesterdays FA Cup 3rd Round win over QPR, is pushing for a return to his homeland, with Ex advising on the current state of play on The West Ham Way Patreon.

“West Ham have confirmed that Lucas Paqueta is pushing for a move to Brazil,” stated Ex. “There has been strong rumours of interest from his former club Flamengo and it is thought that the Brazilian wishes to return to his homeland.

“It was understood that Spurs and possibly Aston Villa were keen on the player but the Brazilian has stated his preference. It was reported that he was in advanced talks to join Spurs which we also asked and were told there is “No truth”

“It is our understanding that Paqueta was left out of the squad to play QPR because of uncertainty over his future. which club officials have confirmed. The manager is a big fan of Paqueta and is expected to hold talks with him this week to try and convince him to remain at the club at least till the end of the season.

“West Ham are said to be reluctant to sell the player because of our current situation and that it could spark others players trying to orchestrate their own moves, as well as the manager rating him.

“West Ham have said they will review the situation in the summer but obviously if a large offer comes in then they could be tempted to accept. If the later scenario does happen, hopefully that money would be reinvested in the team but for now he looks like he will be made to stay until the end of the season at least.”

Ex did note that Paqueta has yet to give his side of the story, which has the potential to throw more light on the situation.

In more positive news, our insider revealed that Mateus Fernandes only has a small injury and should be available to face Spurs.

Mavropanos will face a scan on a neck strain but it is hoped that this isn’t too serious either.
