Caelan Casey could be recalled from his loan at Swansea City as the Hammers are unhappy with his lack of game time in South Wales.
The 21-year-old defender has made thirteen appearances in all competitions for the Swans this season, but that includes just three Championship starts.
While he’s started in all four of their Carabao Cup matches and the one FA Cup match, totalling eight starts in all comps. It just isn’t good enough, he needs to be getting more minutes.
With Mavropanos’ injury, there is a chance Casey could come back and be in and around the first team. However, with Kilman, Golambeckis, Mayers and Igor around I doubt that.
If Casey is called back. I can see him being loaned out again. He is a Championship level player, but the Swans happen to have two or three good centre backs so he can’t get in the team much.
The best thing for Casey’s development would be to loan him out to another Championship club in need of a central defender. If he succeeds, maybe he can go on loan for a full season next season. Or, if we’re in the Championship he could become an important player for us.
