Lucas Paqueta appears to be nearing his end at West Ham and for many it is long overdue.

There can be no denying the Brazil midfielders ability, but the reality is, he simply does not deliver often enough and he’s been more of a headache than an asset to the club.

16 goals and 10 assists in 110 Premier League appearances shows that the £50m outlay plus huge wages really haven’t been the best investment for the club over the years, not to mention the costs associated with his FA trial.

Paqueta will always be remembered for THAT pass to Bowen and fans will be forever grateful for that moment, but what we are seeing now is a player lacking commitment and one that the club simply have to move on.

The West Ham Way Podcast duo Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee gave their views on the situation, with both agreeing that it’s time to say farewell to the Brazil star.

“If the rumours are true and Lucas is refusing to play for West Ham half way through a relegation battle after everything the club and the fans have done for him is unforgivable,” stated Walker. “If he wants to go then get rid of him and let’s hope for once we re invest that money wisely.”

Ex agreed and feels that his departure from east London is long overdue.

“To be honest I think the relationship had already ran its course and I would have been tempted to sell him before all of this, now I’m even more ready for it,” said the insider. “Whilst he is a great player on his day, he isn’t what we need for the current situation and as long as any money made is reinvested into the team then I would sanction a sale.”
