The form of midfielder Songoutou Magassa is beginning to worry Hammers fans, he’s gone from being in excellent form to awful.
A month or so ago, you wouldn’t have heard a bad word about Songoutou Magassa out of a West Ham fans mouth.
From when he scored the late equaliser against Old Trafford Hammers fans were in love with him, he was immense at the theatre of dreams.
He continued to excel in a claret and blue shirt for a number of games following that , despite the teams failure to secure a win.
However, in the last couple of matches ‘Songu’ has been a disaster. The Wolves match was nothing short of an embarrassing performance, he had a hand in all three goals we conceded. His over eagerness cost us the first goal, his poor play didn’t help in the second and he conceded the penalty for the third,
He was dropped for the Nottingham Forest game for Tomas Soucek, but he came back in for the QPR clash. We were all hoping and expecting our midfield to dominate QPR’s but despite dominating the ball, we didn’t dominate the midfield, all the position was between the defence.
Magassa is still a young player, he’s only 22 years old, he’s still got time to improve his consistency. I still do think he should be a starter alongside Potts and Fernandes, especially now Paquetá wants to leave.
However, he, like the rest of the team has to step up from his recent performances to help us get out of this mess.
