West Ham were absolutely on fire in the first half against Spurs, if we play like that for the rest of the season we can stay up.

The Hammers team has been criticised all season for a lack of energy, a lack of heart, but we had both of those things yesterday, especially in the first half.

After we went into the break 1-0 up, understandably Spurs started the second half keen to turn the game around so we retreated.

I personally think we should’ve kept playing how we were in the first half, but that’s not Nuno’s style, and ultimately it paid off in the last minute through Callum Wilson.

But let’s not talk about the swing half which was boring and uninspiring from a hammers point of view, let’s focus on that electric first half performance.

The Hammers had 11 shots, 3 on target, 2 big chances and 5 shots blocked. I haven’t seen numbers like that from West Ham for ages, we’re normally lucky to get that in 90 minutes.

Summerville’s goal was slightly fortunate to take a huge deflection of Van de Ven, but the dribbling, skill and close control to get him there, and to allow him to get the shot away was excellent. The Dutchman has been criticised for not pulling the trigger enough recently, but he did that today and put us into the lead.

The Spurs defenders were making some excellent blocks, Soucek went close, and couldn’t scored before Bowen tapped it home, however he was in an offside position.

We were all buzzing going into half time, we were actually winning a game, against one of our biggest rivals. However, in the back of our minds we were all worried for the second half.

I think we were right to be worried, the approach changed. We were defending, not for our lives because I don’t think Spurs were great, but we weren’t attacking as much, which wasn’t good to see.

When Romero headed in Porro’s cross we all feared the worse, but se stood strong, kept fighting and earned all three points right at the end thanks to Callum Wilson.

It feels excellent to finally get a win, and hopefully it has given the team and the coaching staff a much needed boost.

It’s a huge shame Arsenal couldn’t do us a favour and beat Forest. So, after their draw we’re 5 points below them, which means 5 points from safety. There’s still a lot to do, and it still is unlikely, but let’s hope this win can start a run.

We face Sunderland at home at 12:30 on Saturday, let’s get everyone behind the team, because it’s a more than winnable fixture.
