Nuno and the team shocked the West Ham fanbase with a 2–1 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but not every player was at their best.
One player that Hammers fans aren’t sure about yet is new signing Pablo Felipe. The 22-year-old arrived from Gil Vicente earlier this month and I don’t think many Hammers fans knew much about him, me included.
We signed Taty Castellanos assuming he would be the more creative of the two forwards, someone that would play just off of Pablo.
However, for whatever reason, when Pablo has come on, or when they started together against Tottenham, Taty has been the striker and Pablo has almost been the false nine.
This is really confusing because the more you watch them play together, the more you think they should swap around. Taty looks more comfortable in deeper, more creative positions while Pablo looks pretty clumsy on the ball.
Also, Pablo has been more of a goalscorer throughout his short career, Taty has never really been a huge goalscorer, so why they’re not swapping is confusing.
Pablo just doesn’t look great in this position, he won a couple of flick ons against Spurs, but that’s really about it.
Obviously Callum Wilson came on later in the game and made an instant impact to win us the match. So, its raised the question, who starts on Saturday lunchtime.
I think if Nuno decides to swap Taty and Pablo around vs Sunderland I would stick with those two. However, if not, I think I would drop Pablo and start the hero of the hour Callum Wilson.
But in that case, they would have to swap too, Wilson has to be the most advanced player on the pitch because we need to get him in the position to finish, which is the strongest part of his game.
Whoever starts in attack, this is a game we really have to be winning. After two wins in a row, talk of the ‘great escape’ has begun, but a defeat at home to Sunderland would end all that hope.
