It has been revealed that Callum Wilson will stay at West Ham for the remainder of the season and that a move elsewhere has been ruled out.

Callum Wilson was linked to numerous clubs, all of which held significant interest in him, but after his crucial goal against Spurs, almost every single West Ham fan roared in favour of him staying, and it looks like it had an effect, given that he will now be staying.

This is a massive boost for the Hammers, but how so? With Callum Wilson remaining at the club, it means that the Hammers will be going into this relegation dog fight with three senior striker, the most we’ve had in a long time and with Nuno seemingly set to start opting for a front two, it means two of the three start the match, with the other one becoming rotational and utilised as an impact substitution.

Against Spurs, Callum Wilson obviously was the substitute in this case, but seeing as he has now confirmed his stay, we might see a front two of Taty and Wilson become the new striking force, with Pablo off the bench to have an effect. Taty doesn’t tend to play in an advanced role, often finding himself deeper and in a number 10 or False 9 role, which allows the striker or winger to slip in behind the defence. Wilson would be the perfect candidate to start in this case, and therefore is one of the many pivotal reasons as to why it’s excellent news he is staying.

As well as his skill, which there’s no doubt about, he also brings that experience, he’s an old wise head who’s talented, he knows what to say to the players, he knows how to provide positive feedback towards the squad to help us improve and move forward, and it certainly wouldn’t come as a shock to find out that he’s probably a significant voice in the dressing room, something of which we don’t have much off at this moment in time.

Many wrote Callum Wilson off once we signed him, but now the majority hoped and prayed he stayed once an exit rumour emerged, he’s a crucial player for us and he’s the second highest goal scorer at the club this season, getting rid of him would’ve been nothing short of ludicrous and it’s excellent news that he remains in a West Ham shirt.
