In recent days, with rumours building up, the Hammers now find themselves having an opportunity to get rid of summer signing Hermansen.
West Ham and Spurs have been in contact again over another transfer and perhaps what could be one of the weirdest deals I’ve personally seen, one which would see Mads Hermansen go on a six-month loan to Spurs, and the Hammers in return, would receive Kinsky from Spurs whom Nuno seems to like.
However, there are a few concerns about this deal, all of which raise alarm bells. First of all, is the player himself, since arriving at Spurs, Antonin Kinsky has failed to impress and made a series of errors across a set of games, which ultimately led to him falling to the bench and since he had his spiralling moment, he’s since failed to recover.
It would be a humongous risk to sign Kinsky, he’s not someone who’s proven in the Premier League and last season, he helped Spurs to finish 17th… not exactly impressive by any mark. Started six Premier League matches and conceded 11 goals, which doesn’t exactly sound convincing on the face of it.
It’s actually quite convenient considering that the Hammers previously were interested in Antonin Kinsky before his move to Spurs, whilst at Slavia Prague, now two managers later, Nuno likes the sound of him. A never-ending cycle!
If this deal were to go through, which I’m personally not convinced of, it would require for us to have an option to buy, the same with Hermansen on Spurs’ end. The simple reason is that neither club benefits from a straight loan, but if there’s a potential incentive for the future, there’s always an opportunity for something to happen at a set price… which would be good, as we understand how difficult it is to negotiate with Spurs.
This would also provide a temporary opportunity for Hermansen to regain his confidence, who Thomas Frank is supposedly an admirer of. He could gain confidence, and if an obligation/option were included, it would be an opportunity to claw back a part of the significantly painful transfer fee that we spent on him.
A deal that could see a positive come out by the end of it, but certainly not your typical rumour you tend to see, that’s for certain.
