West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen seems to have returned to form with an excellent performance against Sunderland.
The England International got a goal and assist, and was probably joint man of the match with Mateus Fernandes.
This goal and assist means he now has the outright most Premier League goal involvements for the Hammers. He has overtaken Michal Antonio who ended his career in claret and blue on 101, Bowen now has 103.
Jarrod has to score six goals to overtake Antonio and become our all time PL goalscorer, let’s hope he can do that this season in our fight for survival.
The 28-year-old was crucial for the first goal as his excellent work down the left allowed him to get a cross in. His cross expertly found Summerville in the middle of the box who headed us into the lead.
Bowen’s perfectly placed penalty into the bottom right corner then put us two to the good after Ollie Scarles was fouled inside the box.
Not only did he get the G/A he so desperately needed after a very quiet and ineffective few weeks on the pitch, he looked back to his best in other ways.
His dribbling was insane, he was constantly going at his man, drawing fouls, and just overall causing problems for Trai Hume at left back.
The Northern Ireland international really should have been sent off, he was booked for a foul in the first half and really should’ve seen red for another tackle in the second half.
It’s was really great to see Bowen back at his best today, we’re really going to need him if we want to get out of this mess. Today was an excellent start, let’s hope him and the rest of the team can keep it up.
If we play like we did today, especially in the first half for the rest of the season, we will certainly be a Premier League club next season
