West Ham United’s Premier League survival is in their own hands, we need to win games to stay up, we can’t rely on our rivals dropping points.
West Ham beat Sunderland, closing the gap to safety to two points. Hammers fans expected it to stay like that as Forest visited an inform Brentford.
However, Sean Dyche’s side shocked Hammers fans as they defeated Keith Andrews’ Bees 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium. This meant the gap went back to five points, almost making our win seem pointless.
However, there are so many games left and five points is so easy to make up, especially if we continue how we’re playing at the moment with lots of commitment and quality.
West Ham now sit on 20 points, Forest on 25. Leeds United are also on 25, but have a game in hand, which is tonight, away to Everton.
This is a really winnable game for the Yorkshire side. We will obviously be hoping they lose, making another team even more catchable.
However, we just have to focus on ourselves, get to 40 points and we will be safe. If we keep racking up the points and so do Forest and Leeds, who knows maybe Crystal Palace, or even Tottenham Hotspur could end up being relegated, it’s that close down there, and they are in a lot worse form than us three at the moment.
We just have to keep our form up, keep this run going, we can beat Chelsea next week, they’re nothing special. The more points we rack up, the more chance we have of staying up. We all need to think like that, the fans, the players, the manager, and the owners.
