According to The Sun, Jesse Lingard has been in talks with some English clubs. However, he is in advanced negotiations to move to Serie A.
The former Manchester United and England star has been without a club after he left FC Seoul last month.
In his two years in South Korea, the Englishman scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists in 67 matches. Despite being a weak league, these are very decent numbers.
He is 33-years-old now so it’s unlikely that he’s still the same player with the same pace, the same energy.
But if he can be even half the player he was for us in 2021, then he would be an excellent addition, but it’s a huge gamble to take in our delicate position.
I’d much rather us make a move for someone younger, hungrier that has potential to play for West Ham for years, like Romano Schmidt of Werder Bremen for example.
But according to some rumours, we may not even sign a direct replacement for Paquetá because we signed Pablo and Castellanos earlier in the windows.
So in that case, if we don’t spend the Paquetá money, ‘J Lingz’ could be a good free option. Well at least, better than nothing at all.
However, we will have to act quickly as he is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with clubs in Serie A, which to be fair, would probably be a better more for Lingard to prolong his footballing career.
