Long-time West Ham transfer target Jhon Durán could be on the Irons’ radar again as he has been linked with a move in the transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old has been the subject of interest among several European clubs in the final days of the transfer window. The Colombian is currently on loan with Turkish side Fenerbahçe from parent club Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Durán was heavily linked with the Irons during his time with Aston Villa in 2024. The striker looked poised to be Julen Lopetegui’s marquee signing and was even caught throwing up the crossed arms “Hammers” sign in a video on social media, teasing a seemingly imminent move to East London.

However, the transfer never materialised. Durán stayed with Villa and even scored the winning goal against the Hammers in Lopetegui’s first Premier League game in charge at London Stadium.

Despite a blistering start to the 2024/25 season, Durán departed Villa Park mere months later to secure a large pay day in Saudi Arabia. However, the move has not exactly worked out as planned, and the Colombian has been pawned off to Fenerbahçe this season, where he has played alongside Edson Álvarez, the West Ham midfielder who is also on loan in Istanbul.

Now, it looks like Durán could be on the move again and naturally, some West Ham fans have reignited their interest in the 22-year-old – I don’t know why, seeing as the Hammers have just acquired two new strikers and need reinforcements in other positions. Additionally, Durán’s lack of commitment to any club he joins is not the kind of attitude the Irons need amid their current relegation dogfight.

Durán has shown his talent in the Premier League before, but making a move for the player would be a waste of time. Instead, the Hammers should be turning their attention to other transfer targets, such as Charlie Cresswell of Toulouse.

Both Wolfsburg and Brighton have expressed interest in the former Leeds centre-back, who was reportedly keen on a move to East London earlier this month. If the Irons are to make a move for the defender, they need to act fast, as the window shuts on Monday and Cresswell seemingly has several other suitors.
