It has recently been reported that Fiorentina have set their eyes on two Hammers players as they attempt to push for safety in Serie A.
Fiorentina so far have had a dismal Serie A campaign and are currently sitting in the relegation spots with 17 points and one point away from safety. Whilst they might be close to grabbing themselves out of the situation, they’ve only managed 3 wins out of 22 matches and are now desperate for renforcements, which has led them to keeping an eye on Magassa and Walker-Peters towards the back end of the window.
It has been said that numerous clubs are interested in Magassa, who appears to have fallen down the pecking order under Nuno, given that after his woeful and nervous performance against QPR, he appears to have dropped to the bench, and in the event that a midfielder needs to be brought on, it appears that Freddie Potts gets the nod over him. However, just because he isn’t playing at the moment, that shouldn’t mean he should be sold.
I believe Magassa is a good player, but he’s very raw, he needs some time to adapt and at the moment, we aren’t in a situation where we can take a risk. We have to stick with what we know at the moment.
Aditionally, we have also already have far too many midfielders leave this window. Players such as Guido, Ward-Prowse, Paqueta and Irving have all left. If any more were to go, we’ll have gone from everyone to no one!
However, for Walker-Peters, he’s also another player who would be ludicrously ridiculous to get rid of. A player who has been excellent for us since joining and did a superb job covering for Wan-Bissaka whilst he was away at AFCON, so good that some have suggested it’s harsh for him to not even be starting!
Nuno has attempted to rebalance the squad to his liking this January window, and he appears to have done so. It’s been a slow yet gradual process, but with some tweaks and convincing, he’s managed to balance certain positions to his liking and in the wingback department, we are perfect and for the midfield department, if we were to get rid of anymore, we could be opening ourselves up to more problems.
If anything, we need to be signing a midfielder rather than getting rid of one!
