Crysencio Summerville has been in electric form for West Ham in 2026.
The 24-year-old has scored seven goals since the turn of the year and has been the Irons’ key player since January. The Dutchman has looked increasingly confident over the last few months and has played a huge part in West Ham’s recent resurgence.
Summerville has made some extremely important contributions to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side in recent times: he opened the scoring in the Hammers’ 2–1 win away at Spurs, he scored in a huge win at home to Sunderland, and it was his winner that saw West Ham through to round five of the FA Cup.
However, his most important goal to date came on Wednesday night in West Ham’s 1–0 win over Fulham. The result was massive for the Irons, who are now level on points with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest and just a point away from 16th-placed Spurs.
In fact, if he keeps up this form until the end of the season, Summerville is a serious contender for the 2026 Hammer of the Year award.
In my opinion, West Ham’s best player in this dreadful season has been Mateus Fernandes — by quite some distance. The 21-year-old has been the Irons’ most consistent performer, and his displays have made his £42 million price tag look a bargain.
Summerville’s output in the first half of the season was poor. After a promising start in games against Forest and Everton, the 24-year-old often looked impotent in attack and lacked the end product that the Irons desperately needed.
However, despite Fernandes’ heroics, Summerville’s 2026 scoring spree has been key to lifting West Ham from the ruins of certain relegation. Since scoring his first goal of the season in January, the winger has netted five times in the following eight Premier League games — during which the Hammers have picked up fourteen points.
Players like Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos could also be considered in the mix for Hammer of the Year. But Summerville might just be the frontrunner if his goals and performances prove enough to keep West Ham in the Premier League this season.
