After securing a valuable point against Manchester City on Saturday night, West Ham are back in the relegation zone.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Sunday’s results mean that West Ham drop back into 18th place in the Premier League table. The Irons grabbed a great point this weekend, but so did their relegation rivals.

In the early games, Leeds and Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 against Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively.

Leeds missed a huge chance to grab three points when Dominic Calvert-Lewin dragged his penalty wide just before half-time. Daniel Farke’s side went down to ten men moments later when Gabriel Gudmundsson picked up a second booking following a foul on Ismaïla Sarr. But Leeds held on for a decent point at Selhurst Park.

Nottingham Forest could also have nicked a win at home to Fulham. Dan Ndoye thought he had opened the scoring against Marco Silva’s side, but the goal was ruled out through VAR. The game wasn’t pretty, but the result kept West Ham in the drop zone.

Things got worse for the Hammers in the later game, as a 90th-minute equaliser at Anfield earned Igor Tudor his first point as Spurs boss.

Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a trademark free-kick that Spurs’ Guglielmo Vicario admittedly should have saved.

The Reds kept the visitors out for most of the game but looked lethargic in possession as Spurs threatened Arne Slot’s side in the second half. Eventually, that pressure paid off as Richarlison netted a late equaliser and the tie ended 1-1.

Sunday’s results didn’t exactly help West Ham, but that shouldn’t take away from how good Saturday night’s result was at the London Stadium.

The Irons haven’t lost ground on any of their relegation rivals after the weekend. They are still level on points with Forest, a point behind Spurs and three points behind Leeds.

All eyes will be on next weekend’s fixtures, as the Hammers face Aston Villa at Villa Park at 2:15pm on Sunday. At the same time, Spurs take on Forest, with at least one of the Irons’ relegation rivals guaranteed to drop points.

Leeds face Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday night. The Bees have experienced mixed results against those in the relegation battle this season, and a win for the hosts could lift them well clear of the drop.

However, West Ham need only focus on their own performances and results. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have picked up 15 points from nine games in a run that included matches against Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Man United, among others.

If the Irons keep up their current form, there shouldn’t be any worries about relegation. Out of the four sides in the battle for survival, West Ham are still the form team in 2026. Another positive result for the Irons next weekend would really boost the morale and confidence of the side, regardless of other results.

And with the way West Ham are playing right now, they have a chance against anyone they face.
