West Ham face four crucial matches over the next few weeks. Four ‘cup finals’ as a lot of football fans like to say.
Striker Callum Wilson will have a big part to play in these four matches, just like he did in our last match against Everton.
Wilson was the hero the Hammers so desperately needed on Saturday.
Dewsbury-Hall made it 1-1 at the London Stadium just as Joao Palhinha put Spurs in the lead against Wolves. This would have put us back in the relegation zone.
However, that didn’t happen as Callum Wilson’s striker instincts made sure we didn’t slip back into the danger zone.
It was a great team move starting with Walker-Peters, captain Jarrod Bowen picked up his second assist of the match with a superb header into the path of Wilson.
The 34-year-old finished like the experienced striker he is, hitting it hard into the ground, making sure it went over the defenders’ legs but also well under the crossbar.
I don’t think he’s good enough to start matches, we’ve seen how much he slows down the attack when he starts. However, he’s the perfect substitute striker to bring on when we need or goal or need someone to hold up the ball.
For a free singing that was full of criticism, Wilson has been huge for us this season, he’s scored some important goals and we may need one or two more from him in the next four matches.
