With an official Shakira song coming, World Cup fever has now hit a lot of people.

The footballing world is looking ahead to an amazing summer of football in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

But what could the World’s best football tournament mean for the West Ham squad.

Well, the players guaranteed to go to the tournament barring injury are as follows. Tomas Soucek, Edson Alvarez, Malick Diouf, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Three more players that have an outside chance of making their countries squad for the World Cup are Jarrod Bowen, Mateus Fernandes, and Crysencio Summerville.

A lot of these players futures will heavily depend on what League we’ll be in next season. However, when they leave, where they go to, and how much they go four could be heavily impacted on the World Cup.

If we do go down, I think only one of these players will stay and that’s Tomas Soucek. However, if he has an excellent World Cup, maybe he could be tempted to leave if a big club makes an offer.

As for the other players, the World Cup would probably be a good thing in terms of keeping hold of these players, so that would be a bonus if we stay up.

However, if we go down it could be bad. These players are going to be more focused on the tournament ahead than securing moves.

This would mean the players probably won’t make a move till they are back from the World Cup, giving West Ham less chance of signing players before the World Cup because the finances won’t be there.

Going down will obviously have much bigger impacts on the club, but with the club in the financial state it’s in, not selling these players reasonably early could ruin our chances of coming straight back up.
