Declan’s Rice’s comments about West Ham were nice, but ultimately we don’t care and we need to focus on beating that lot on Sunday.
That is the view of The West Ham Way Podcast host Dave Walker, who was speaking after Rice made comments about the game and his former club ahead of our clash at the London Stadium this weekend.
Rice, who came through the clubs Academy and was also captain, will return again with Arsenal and despite it being almost 3 years since his move, fans are still feeling the pain of seeing him move to a London rival.
Rice though did share some words about West Ham, as was reported on ESPN.
“It’s a club that gave me everything,” said Rice. “Without West Ham, there’s no me and I honestly believe that. They gave me a chance when Chelsea didn’t and a lot of people there really did push me on,
“Moyes, Slaven Bilić, Pellegrini made me captain. Loads of good things about that club. It’s not nice to see they position they’re in. But it’s football and I have a job to do on Sunday.
“We’re trying to win a Premier League title and it’s the business end of the season, so we want to win every game and I’m sure they want to win every game too. So, yeah, may the best team win.”
Walker responded and acknowledged the kind words, however doesn’t feel many care and just want West Ham to focus on what really matters.
“Dec’s comments were nice about West Ham and so they should be – but it’s a bit like me leaving my wife for her mate then saying nice things about her, it doesn’t really count for much,” said the Podcast host.
“This isn’t about him, it’s about West Ham and we need points. Can we get at least a draw on Sunday? Possibly and if we do let’s hope Leeds can do the same.”
