West Ham are now looking destined for relegation to the Championship, with a miracle needed to prevent that happening.

In many ways, as a fan, although I’d love to see the miracle come off – a part of me wants to be put of of my misery.

The feeling of hope in east London has been fading and that is not just this season. That light has been dimming for years under our appalling leadership, which has ultimately lead to us facing our exit from the Premier League.

It is certainly no shock to us in east London, this has been on the horizon for a long time – including when we lifted the Europa Conference League trophy in 2023. That season we were lucky to survive, and that was with Declan Rice as captain.

So it was inevitable that doom was coming. And it is now here.

There are so many things wrong at West Ham, its actually frightening when analysing the different mechanisms of the football club.

The squad is all over the place, certainly not fit for competing at a high level. The management team is confusing, with coaches being pulled from different areas of the club to support a manager who at many times has looked lost.

Our Stadium is not a football stadium, its not fit for purpose and the vast majority are still furious this is now where we play our football. And to top it off, we don’t even own it.

The training facilities are that of a League Two club and that is putting it kindly. An embarrassment.

Our backroom recruitment team appears to be based around a couple of people, who recommend players and then our Chairman decides on who gets to pick next, with his Championship Manager approach to running a club.

The finances are in a horrendous state also, with £104m losses reported last year and further losses expected – which is a real cause for concern when we consider future possible points deductions.

And lets be honest, that is just scratching the surface. West Ham are a club in peril and heading down, which ultimately is down to one person: David Sullivan.

The man who pretty much every fan has been desperate to see the back of for years, yet who still seems desperate to cling to power – even though he’s in the last years of his life.

West Ham being relegated, although painful to experience, is an opportunity for a full reset. But ultimately it needs to start at the very top. David Sullivan is not fit to run a club and he cannot be leading us as we look to clear out & rebuild.

He is responsible for the dreadful state we find ourselves in and he cannot be allowed to continue. There is of course hope that this season will be enough to see him finally wave the flag & sell up, but as usual with him there is no sign of that at present.

Until we are finally rid of this appalling owner, this club cannot heal. It cannot start the process of recovery, which judging from all the things mentioned earlier, is likely to take years.

How we long to see the back of Sullivan. When that will finally arrive, sadly still, is anyone’s guess.
