Championship-bound West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has been in awful form over the last couple of months.
West Ham’s resurgence since the turn of the year has been impressive, and like always, Jarrod Bowen was a huge part of that, at the start anyway.
However, over the past couple of months, at the business end of the season, he really hasn’t shown up like we’ve needed him to.
It does feel harsh to write an article just focused on him; plenty of other players have been just as poor or even worse. However, as our captain, talisman, and with a World Cup place on the line, myself and every other West Ham fan expected more of him.
He doesn’t look like the same player he has been his whole time in claret and blue. He’s never been the fastest, but he seems to have lost a yard of pace, as well as both his explosiveness and decisiveness in attack.
It’s not his fault we’re going down at all, but his drop in form in recent weeks has played a big part.
Jarrod is a West Ham legend and always will be. I just hope that if we go down, it isn’t the end. It’s unlikely we will get the money we want for him now, so who knows, might he give us a year in the Championship?
