West Ham United have been linked with a move to sign England U20 international left-back Dennis Cirkin.

The Dublin-born, England youth International who is also eligible to play for Latvia and Turkey is avaliable for free after leaving Sunderland this summer.

He failed to cement his place in the Premier League for the Black Cats last season, however, he has hailed as one of, if not the best left-back in the Championship in 22/25.

The Tottenham Hotspur academy product would be an excellent option to bring in for the season as we look to get back into the Premier League, however, I’m unsure whether or not I’d want to give him the three or four year contract he’d probably demand.

He’s an attacking full-back which is what we need, we’re going to have to dominate the ball in this league so creativity from everywhere is key.

He can carry the ball, something Diouf really didn’t offer us last season, he doesn’t have the crossing ability of Diouf, but having someone with decent technique on the ball will improve the flow of the team in possession.

Not only that, Cirkin can be decisive in the final third of the pitch with overlapping runs, he’s also got a great strike on him.

His stamina and atleticism is also key to his style of play, he can dominate the left flank both defensively and offensively, he’s also a good 1v1 and back post defender.

This is a no-brainer really if we can get him on a year or two contract, evwn if we don’t, I’m sure we could get a decent bit of money from another Championship if we go up. He’s still very young at 24, Premier League proven, a free transfer, and can officially join as soon as July 1st.

West Ham would be silly not to offer Dennis Cirkin a contract at London Stadium.
