West Ham have been dealt an injury blow with Tomas Soucek having to be stretchered off the pitch in Czechia’s loss to Mexico at the World Cup.

Hammers fans will know that if Soucek needs to be helped off the pitch then the situation is unlikely to be minor, with the midfielder landing badly when closing down the Mexico goalkeeper.

“Tomas Soucek was sadly stretched off in a 3-0 defeat for Czechia against hosts Mexico,” stated ExWHUEmployee on The West Ham Way Patreon.

“The West Ham midfielder was closing down a keeper clearance and his body gave way on landing.

“It is hard to tell initially what the injury is. His ankle looks to give way which will be the better of the two, whereas it could be his knee and fears that he has done his ACL.

“The injury looked very serious and as we know Tomas isn’t one to go down lightly. Scans will take place but it looks like he could miss at least some part of the new season.

“Trying to find positives in the situation, it could now mean that potential suitors for his signature in Everton and a couple of other teams now pass up on the opportunity and he will will remain a West Ham player.

“I will keep you updated when the scan results are in.”

Ex has also provided an update on the situation with Assistant Head Coach Paco, who many had hoped would return to join Nuno’s team again next season.

“It still remains unclear whether Paco will return to his role at the club,” added Ex. “He has an offer on the table from West Ham but he is said to favour becoming a Head Coach elsewhere however if a suitable offer doesn’t come in he could remain.

“Mark Robson is expected to revert back to his role with the under 21s whilst Potts, Prenderville and Lepine are expected to stay with the club.”
