Edson Alvarez’s time at West Ham is drawing to a close which is long overdue with the player wanting out.

It has been some time since we have seen the Mexican in a Hammers shirt, with an exit from east London appearing on the cards now for a long time and it finally feels we are now at that juncture.

Alvarez spent last season on loan at Fenerbahçe, which appears to have been a move that is unlikely to result in him making the move a permanent one.

That being said, Alvarez is a player of quality and one that if he was up for staying, would be welcome in the Championship. However, that appears highly unlikely.

The West Ham Way Podcast host Dave Walker feels that it’s best Alvarez is out the door soon, if he continues to show that he doesn’t have a desire to remain at West Ham.

“It’s a shame because I think he has some decent characteristics that would’ve suited the Championship,” stated Walker. “That said, like any of the current squad, if he doesn’t want to be here then we have to get him gone.”
