West Ham United have been linked with an audacious move for former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

Tomori is a player we’ve always been linked with, from his time at Chelsea when he rejected a loan move to the Hammers, and pretty much every transfer window since.

However, it always seemed slightly optimistic, why would he leave AC Milan for us?

But after five years in the Italian city of fashion, and with a year left on his contract, the Englishman has been told by new manager Ruben Amorim that he can leave and is no longer part of his plans.

Despite the increased chances of him leaving the Rossoneri, you would assume the chances of him joining West Ham have decreased even more due to us being relegated to the Championship.

On Tomori, ExWHUEmployee in his latest transfer update said: “The club have other ambitious targets on a list, one of which is Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan.”

“Again, this remains a highly ambitious target but should the likes of Newcastle, Leeds and Crystal Palace as well as Al-Hilal of Saudi fail in their attempts to sign him we could try and offer him an alternative. 

“He only has 11 months left on his deal at Milan and is also said to been keen on a return to London, two things we could take advantage of.”

I think we know this is unlikely, but it’s good to see we’re being ambitious in the second tier. We have other more realistic options which makes this feel worth it.

If somehow Tomori has no other options and he’s being forced out of Milan, who knows, maybe we could sign him on a late cut-priced deal.

Championship or Premier League, Fikayo Tomori would be an unbelievable signing for West Ham United.
