West Ham are looking set to sign former Brighton defender Joel Veltman, it’s been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The experienced player can operate as both a right-back and as a centre half and is considered ideal for the squad, as he also brings leadership qualities.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, club insider Ex has advised that Veltman is set to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed move to east London.

“We have been able to confirm that we believe the free agent that has been in talks with the club is a former Brighton defender but not Adam Webster,” stated Ex.

“It is believed that the player we have held talks with and should be doing a medical is Joel Veltman.

“Veltman joined Brighton from Ajax for in 2020 and has been a regular at the Seaguls. He has 28 caps for the Netherlands and 2 goals.

“The Dutchman can play at right back and at centre back and is said to considered good cover for both positions.

“The defender is 34 and will be 35 this season but he is said to be a great leader and presence in the dressing room. Talks did also happen with Adam Webster but the versatility of Veltman is said to have been a key factor in the move. The defender played 24 times for Brighton last season.

“It is thought that he needs to complete a medical first and then he could be announced before the Portsmouth fixture if all goes to plan.“
