West Ham United are interested in a move for former Leicester and England striker Jamie Vardy.

Jamie Vardy has been linked with a crazy return to English football, with West Ham said to be one of many suitors for the now 39-year-old.

Now, when you hear his age, you might immediately think, “stay away from that; he’s too old,” but despite being what some would call a middle-aged man, he isn’t slowing down much.

We all know about Vardy; he’s scored goals for fun in English football between non-league and the Premier League. But last season, he added Serie A goals to his resume. He scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 29 appearances in a relegated Cremonese side, even winning the Serie A Player of the Month in September.

He doesn’t have quite the same pace he had in that record-breaking 2015/16 season, but he has that same energy and passion that made him the player he was, and a player that’s still good enough to find the back of the net.

He would be a similar signing to Callum Wilson; he’d be brought in as an almost guaranteed goalscorer, someone to bring off the bench when we’re desperate for a goal and prove himself on the pitch to become a starter.

If we brought Vardy to East London instead of a Troy Parrott or a Wilson Isidor, I would be against it, but if we bought one of those two alongside Vardy and had, say, Parrott, Catellanos, Pablo, and Vardy as options for the two striker positions, we would be absolutely sorted for goals.

Vardy is a player Hammers fans would love. The fact we turned down the chance to sign him ten years ago because he was ‘too old’ and could sign him ten years later is crazy, but on a one-year contract I would really love to see it happen.
