Following the incoming EFL Championship record signing of Arne Engels from Celtic, West Ham must now do what they can to get Jamie Vardy to east London.

That is the view of The West Ham Way Podcast host Dave Walker, who feels that the veteran striker would be a very wise aquisition, as the club seek promotion straight back to the Premier League this season.

The former Leicester City player has recently been linked with a move to West Ham this summer, with it understood the player is very much on the radar, although Troy Parrott is deemed more important to get over the line at this stage.

Walker though is fully behind a move for Vardy and says his age is not an issue for what role he could offer Nuno’s side this season.

“I would take him all day long,” stated the Podcast host. “Age might not be on his side but not only could he come on the last 20 minutes of a game and make a difference, he would also bring something to the dressing room which is important.”
