West Ham United need to act quickly in the transfer market to bring in a striker before facing Charlton on Saturday.

After going 2-0 up against Burnley at Turf Moor and collapsing in the final 10 minutes to draw 2-2, an injury to Pablo Felipe, and a poor performance from Taty Castellanos. West Ham need to sign a striker this week and they could be close to doing so.

Despite a deal for Troy Parrott collapsing, our very own ExWHUEmployee has reported that a move for Joël Piroe of Leeds is in the advanced stages and could even be done as soon as tomorrow.

I don’t think the signing of the Surinamese striker is as exciting as one for Troy Parrott, however, it has a much higher chance of success as we’ve seen what he’s done in the Championship before.

In 179 matches in the Championship for both Leeds United and Swansea City, Piroe has scored 73 goals and assisted 18. Most recently, 1n 24/25 when Leeds were promoted to the Premier League Piroe scored 19 and set up 7.

Not only that, the 27-year-old was said to have a great relationship with Manor Solomon both on and off the pitch. They combined for 4 goals together in the 24/25 season.as they lifted the Championship title with 100 points.

I’m not sure Piroe is the perfect style of striker to play up front with Taty, I think more high energy and fasters player like Parrott and Vardy would suit playing with the Argentinian better.

However, I don’t think we’re looking for perfect, or at least we don’t want to spend the money for perfect because we wont pay the money required for Parrott, but Piroe will do the job.

He’s a proven Championship bags man, and with Bowen, Taty, and Solomon around him, he will score goals. He just doesn’t fit the ‘good enough for the Premier League’ signings that we’ve been told we want. But I guess we’ll cross that bridge next summer when we come to it.

Joël Piroe is a good short-term signing for the Championship, but he won’t be the long term number nine we all though we were going to get, but he’s a striker and he will improve us right now and that’s what we desperately need.
