Lewis Orford put in a man of the match display as West Ham beat Southampton 4-1.

The England U20 international has now become a ‘guaranteed’ starter for Hammers fans for the upcoming fixtures.

Orford did absolutely everything in midfield and the stats showed that.

He had 90% pass accuracy, 8 recoveries, 3 tackles, 2 interceptions, and a massive created 6 chances which was obviously a match high.

He just looked so composed on the ball, he was controlling the game at times, playing the ball through the lines. Two of his six chances created ended up in assists too.

He would be absolutely perfect in that 6 role with two athletic midfielders either side of him.

Unfortunately I don’t think that’s ever going to be a position in this Nuno side, but still, he looked immense in the 4-2-3-1 he played on Tuesday night alongside Mo Kante.

It’s likely he will play alongside Engels back in Nuno’s trusty 4-4-2 formation at Watford Saturday, and I’m really excited to see it.

This is a massive chance for Lewis Orford, and so far he’s more than taking it.
