West Ham face Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight at the London Stadium.

With deadline day well and truly in full swing, with two or three players likely to arrive in East London and two or three likely to depart, you could be excused for forgetting West Ham are playing tonight.

But we are, and it’s a big one. After three Championship matches without a win, the Hammers are coming up against Wolves, who are now the title favourites, not many after our poor start.

I don’t think it’s a must-win for Nuno because of this, but a win would hopefully give the club and the fanbase it so desperately needs ahead of what certainly is a must-win vs Derby on Saturday, especially if we don’t pick up a result here.

To pick up a result here, Nuno needs to get his team right. So here’s what I think the former Forest manager should do with the starting XI tonight!

Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Golambeckis, Mayers; Bowen, Engels, Orford, Solomon; Taty, Piroe. 

Hermansen was a bit dodgy for the goal on Saturday, but he stays in. I don’t think Veltman impressed enough to keep his spot, so I’d move KWP back to right back, and I’d go for Mayers over Scarles at left-back because I just think he looks better and more defensively solid.

Mavropanos is said to be back, so I’d bring him back in for this one to deal with the threat of Raul Jimenez, and I’d take out Kilman instead of Golambeckis for the season reasons. We don’t know if Airidas can deal with a physical striker like Raul, but we know Kilman can’t, so why not take the chance on the eighteen-year-old?

Lewis Orford has to come into the starting XI, and Kante has to drop out, so that’s a straight swap. Arne Engels didn’t look great again on Saturday, but the £22 million man deserves more chances to show what he can do.

On the wing, Bowen and Solomin start as the only real options. I would go with Piroe and Taty in attack, as long as Nuno plays Piroe more advanced and Taty in-behind. However, if Nuno continues to refuse to do that, then I’d start Mukasa over the Argentinian.

Nuno is undoubtedly going to make changes, but I’m not sure they’re going to be ones any of us want to see.
