Six-sational! What a win. What a performance.
After the first 5 minutes, I seriously wondered if we were in for another long night but how wrong I was.
I thought Nuno got the team selection spot on, and for once, I think everyone agreed with it. The Pablo argument can finally be put to bed. The front 4 were magnificent and the scoreline showed. It also didn’t flatter us come the 90th minute.
Wrexham’s big day out came crashing down. Playing in front of their biggest crowd, they took a good hiding. I said on Tuesday this squad could be in for record numbers and after last night, I think that could well be right. 16 goals in our last 4 now and 2 clean sheets. A GD of +11 after 7 games and to think we threw our first 3 away!
Bowen, Piroe, Dinos, Taty, Kante and Solomon all got on the scoresheet. Nuno will be overly pleased to see everyone chipping in!
His decision to drop Pablo and bring Taty straight back in was correct. Taty was everywhere and not only that, added quality throughout. He really played his role well and was a danger all night. Neat and tidy touches, patterns of play, he looked all but a PL player.
Credit to Nuno for playing that 4 and giving them the freedom to play. This is how we have to attack every game. Like the team we are. A team with arrogance in the right way, that we’re better than everyone else around us.
Watching the game it felt like Wrexham couldn’t breathe, the front 4 were all over them defending from the front. Not in moments but constantly, a huge change in style under Nuno! And it paid off.
What pleased me most with Nuno yesterday, we didn’t stop at 3 or 4, we didn’t take our foot of the gas. We got 5, we got 6! Dare I say it could’ve been 7/8! And that’s exactly what we want to see from Nuno and this team. So fair play to him, I just hope he continues to trust in himself and his players. And know they’re head and shoulders above anyone in this league. Every game we have to target 3 points, it’s as simple as that.
With Millwall next in the league, we’ve set a marker down, the players and manager have shown us what they are capable of and 3 points is an absolute must. Take the rivalry away, Millwall are a team to be feared in the Championship today but we have to go out and show everyone again why we are a PL team in waiting.
For the first time ever, I don’t care what happens on Tuesday in the cup, we have to get back to the PL! So bring on that mob from South and let’s get another 3 points on the board.
